    Thanks for the help. :)

Nope, no family anywhere but the Northwest in Lancashire - some nearish to Ormskirk and also Leigh. I'm rather partial to Victorian houses, which does limit the location due to price band (can afford more according to the mortgage estimator sites, but feel it's silly to have such a huge mortgage!).

Ormskirk is lovely and commutable for both Liverpool and Sale (although rush hour around the M60 down to Sale can be a nightmare).

For the Manchester office Bury is an easy commute, has really well priced properties and a great town centre (people who can't afford Didsbury and Chorlton are gravitating there so it's only going to continue to be up and coming, in my opinion). Bury is also on the Metrolink tramline if you don't want to drive to work.

Also don't rule out more rural areas - Liverpool and Manchester have loads of countryside around them with older properties (villages like Culcheth, Horwich and Euxton are all worth a look).

Bottom line is... you will undoubtedly get more for your money if you look at moving to one of the offices in the North West, not to mention great cities, lovely people and amazing countryside on your doorstep (I've lived all over the country but currently in Lancashire - so, yes, I admit I'm a bit biased!).
