'widdle breaks' and rain.

  • :rotfl: I hear you, OP. My dog does all the delay tactics he can to avoid going out when it's raining. He'll take one look, and then do a big stretch and slump to the floor. Or, he'll take a tentative step out, but as soon as his paw hits the wet ground, he backs up again.

In the end, I just have to stand out there with him, saying 'Wee wees!'. Luckily he is very food orientated, so if I hold some kibble while I'm outstide, he'll be there in a shot regardless of how heavy the rain is. Bless 'em!

I bet they give you a knowing look... what's she doing, doesn't she know it's raining? Silly humans! :)

(apologies if you're not a "she")

I am a she. Hence the grumbling about picking up the greyhound I guess!
  • Well last night Tyson flat out refused to go outside, managed to drag him across the laminate flooring but he pretty much held on to the door frame in stubbornness.

    I stupidly gave up.

As soon as I shut the door again, he stood on the rug and gave me a glare and promptly pee'd all over the rug!

    We are now not speaking...

My two dogs hate going out in the rain and refuse point blank.

Unless, of course, I get myself as weatherproofed as possible and take them to the park. Doesn't matter then HOW horrible the weather is...there are all kinds of exciting distractions...other dogs' wee to wee over, a pigeon or two to chase, even the holy grail of a discarded KFC bag with a few chicken bones still in it so they can scran them in record time before killjoy mum starts shrieking "Leave it!!!"

Well worth their while getting soaked for.

:D Don't you just love 'em?

My boy has a special spot where he stands on the decking & surveys his "kingdom".

It's a shame though that this "kingdom surveying" occurs in all weathers, he will stand there sniffing the air in torrential rain... totally oblivious. I have to drag him in.

The girl does the same but has a bit more sense & comes in after a few minutes.... I've come to the conclusion he's a bit thick ;)

My girl dog's definitely special needs. Thick doesn't even come close!

My boy baby refuses to go out and knows when it's raining as he doesn't ask to go out instead preferring to stay in bed.

My girl baby will go for widdles whatever the weather but she is a bit "special" xxx

Ruby will not wee anywhere near home. The nearest spot is 5 minutes walk away so I have to wellie up and take her out at least twice a day. Luckily she has a cast-iron bladder and will go 14 hours between outings! Dexter is the opposite and won't wee anywhere other than the garden. After an hours walk, he will rush out into the garden bursting to wee.

I thought only I had dogs like this!! The older dog will wee but never poop outside and saves it til she gets home.

Now I refuse to let them out all evening until 10.30 so they are bursting and have to wee.

My older dog hates going for a walk and I have to drag her outside, she is fine once we get going but she goes off and hides, once I looked everywhere for her and she was hiding behind one of the long curtains and another time she got in a big box. Making me laugh to think about it, usually I get the lead and she goes back to bed.

As for the rain though - not a chance, even with coats, slight spitting and they are pulling me to get home. We have put a gazebo cover up just outside the back door so they have somewhere dry to stay if it is raining - it means we can chuck them out without guilt - but the other day I had to leave them out there for 20 minutes before they finally gave up and went for a wee. :rotfl:

Greyhound?! Rain?! They're water soluble don't you know?!

Mine's finally twigged breakfast is withheld until there's a widdle done - it's about the only time she gets remotely near high-speed these days.
