Returns - when it comes back worse for wear.

Buyer didn't read the listing so buyer is unhappy with item.

Packaging likely to have been trashed. The new item I sent sounds like it will come back used, opened and not as it was sent at all.

Obviously full refund offered upon their return of item in the new condition it was sent in, but the way this buyer has worded their emails, I'm not confident that the item will be resellable due to the trashed packaging.

Price is £60, so not willing to just take it on the chin. Without packaging, it'll sell for around £30.

The only way I can see is to be blunt and only give back some of the money they paid and explain why.

How do you deal with this situation? Thanks.
