You've been given the correct advice. The insurance company owns the watch. What you do about it is really up to you.
What I'll not do is give you any advice that could help you make the wrong decision and get away with it.

That sounds incredibly unlikely as it would leave the OP £2k out of pocket and the proud owner of two identical watches.
In reality, as other have said, the watch belongs to the insurer and their options are ..... give it to the OP, offer to sell it to him or collect it and sell it on.0
