i was recieving ctc for my lad last payment on 30th august....he was 18 and was going to uni after the summer,so he had to move out,no colleges near me..my other son came here to live on the day,my 1st son moved out 31st august,as he would be attending college here and i do qualify for tax credits for him,as ive been told.
so basicly they were swapping places.

i tel the tax cred up on the 1st aug and told the gent of the upcoming changes and what happens now,do i need to fill a form in etc....
he said no il do the work you don't have to do anything, which im told by a supervisor at tax credits this would have been correct.
-
it then gets referred to another place,i waited til they owed me 8 weeks money like the phone message says, finally got through and there's been a problem when it got referred for some reason.

i had to fill a new claim for in,and a appeal form im owed as of today 12 weeks ctc.
i tel them today and im getting 115.00 on 27th nov and 62.10 on the 28th.
i was told i could get 4 weeks backdated and a further 4 weeks for the appeal if successful.
so i'm owed 10 weeks child benefit for no fault of my own,had to fill a new claim form in,which i should not have had too and fill a appeal form in,which i shouldn't have had to.
i recieved a letter from the appel team or whoever deals with it in preston
it said as follows word for word........
on the 12th of november we recieved your appeal against the tax credits notice of decision dated 09 august 2012 (iv'e not had any letters of them or tax credits til the appeal form and the new claim form i filled in and posted separately same day)
the letter then says....
we will review your appeal and aim to contact you by the 24th april 2013 lease do not contact us before this date.
so im 10 weeks child tax credit out of pocket because they messed my claim up after i telephoned them at the beginning of august to notify them of the changes.
so my christmas as gone up the swanny, what do i do now contact citizens advice?
how can they not see its there fault there supervisor as admitted that it got messed up after it was eferred following me notifying them beginning of august.0 -
Was someone claiming child related benefits previously for this second son?0
-
hi thanks for the reply, yes my ex wife. ryan who's has been living with me now since the 31st aug 2012.
i got my child benefit for him backdated after 6 weeks which was for 6 weeks payments,so that was sorted.
the tax credits know i receive c/b for him as they have my c/b number.
i gave them 4 weeks notice of the change in circumstances,at the beginning of august.0 -
Time to put in a written complaint with as many names and dates included as possible. The CAB also apparently have a special number they can call to speak on your behalf. I don't know if the people they speak to will be any more helpful, but it's worth a try... April???0

yer will phone them tomorrow,my ex wife who ryan was and receiving ctc payments for, well those payments would have stopped aug 31st,has ryan had finished school and now attends collage here and as done since monday 3rd september,i also spoke to a very nice lady at the tax credit office who was baffled by it all and snt them a memo to hurry it up a bit, since then i received the letter.
i telephoned tax line on saturday morning spoke to a very grumpy and very unpolite man who talked down to me saying if it says on the letter don't contact us til 2013,then what you doing phoning us.0 -
This is exactly why I called on 1st September to make sure they had the correct details for my oldest son going to collage.
With tax credits I have learnt over the years to double check everything with them:(0 -
wish id of done now,but it says or said on there phone line not to phone til after 8 weeks, which i thought meant 8 weeks of payments owed.
the supervisor i spoke to who appologised to me said its not there fault but the office were the claim was referred to,he acknowledged i tel on the 1st of august.
the bit that baffles me is the letter yesterday from the appeal office in preston, which said my appeal against the tax credits notice of decision on the 9th of aug 2012.....what decision i only phoned tc helpline on the 1st aug,i wasn't told of any decision had been made by letter or telephone.
only letters ive had from them are a new claim form filled in about 4 weeks ago and a appeal form, and the appeal letter i received yesterday.0 -
i was reciving 64.40.00 for my lad who was 18 last june who left,my lad who lives with me now who is 16 is entitled to 63.10 as it changed because of age difference as none of my circumstances have changed.0
