They also only allow you to draw out £1200 a day over the counter any more and you have to give 48 hours notice they really are only pretending to be a bank.I recently wanted to withdraw the £3000 that I had saved over the last twelve month's in their regular saver so that I could get it into my RBS account for transfer to the 6 month ING ISA-what a performance 48 hrs notice and it took me nearly half an hour in the branch ,because they insisted on counting the money in front of me in a separate room and they did not have one available.

I can;t believe you even had an account there Kenshaz

    I'm in shock

don't understand why they insisted a room for that small amount

regarding bills - if you have a halifax current account, you can set up a bill payment to function by sending money vias the ATM or on-line, taking the 3 days it would after visiting a branch. saves them visiting branch. and many people do direct debit for bills, so not that many queries

Nationwide used to allow people to pasy bills but that was removed

Unfortunately the Halifax call themselves a "bank" but are not that either!

Even with a Halifax account I cannot go into my local Halifax and pay my BT bill over the counter - it doesn't have that facility, therefore it is not a bank.

It is only a bank when it suits it to be a bank, ie, when they are selling mortgages.

abbey were teh same (may have changed) when asked the staff how i should pay my bills, they replied internet banking now this was a few years ago, and yeah i had internet access but when closing the account down i gave that as part of the reason i was leaving
