As title says, does anyone know which 32" TV with USB will play AC3 files? We have two televisions, both with USB ports, neither of which will play the audio track on films via a stick.
We just want a bog-standard TV for the bedroom, don't want to pay too much either!
Thanks.

Why not just convert the files you are wanting to play, will be much cheaper than buying a brand new tv:)0

Indeed. AC3 is only really used for surround sound and TVs normally only do stereo. There are also additional licence fees that the TV manufacturer will have to pay if they want to be able to handle AC3 and this cost will be passed on to you.
Just convert the audio to MP3 or something that the TV can support.0 -
Cheapest solution AFAIK would be a nifty little Android gizmo, that costs about forty quid, and plugs into the HDMI socket of your TV. Essentially it's most of the innards of a mobile phone in a neat (sub-Mars Bar sized) plastic housing. It uses your TV as a screen, and connects to WiFi if you want. You can download and load software from the Android Store (including BBC iPlayer and the new BBC Media Player). And - of course - the gadget comes pre-loaded with Media player software which can be replaced with an alternative from Google Play if you prefer. Android gadets natively support a FAR wider range of video and audio formats than (for example) the iPlayer.
DX sell'em for £30 - £40 each (And if there are any problems, you can
ship items back to DX's base in Southampton for a refund or replacment)
The folowing link provides details of many such products.

The AK802 is on special offer right now... (just over £30 incl delivery) To get a better idea of what these gizmos do, go to Youtube, and search on "AK802". There's a wide range of reviews and how to's for them. I'd be inclined to consider getting a cheap four-port Hub (to allow connection of a wider range of USB gadgets to the AK802 - Poundland sells them! ) and a USB keyboard and/or mouse. (Not for nothing is the AK802 described as an "Android PC" - you'll need some means to talk to it!) Also, adding a dirt cheap USB webcam from Ebay will allow you to add a Skype facility to your TV.0 -
I routinely replace ac3 audio on downloads with aac using GotSent. Takes about 5 minutes per file to produce an mp4 compatible with tablets, PS3s and even my Humax PVR.0

Just get a media player and don't mess around with converting. They can be picked up for very little money, far cheaper than buying a new TV.0
