Another one that has long curtains that tuck down the backs of the radiators as far as they'll go! (with extra fleece linings attached!)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

You can get double curtain rails similar to this.
And you can save money by not having full width full length curtains - if that makes any sense - as they are just for show. The shorter inner ones can be fuller because they're the ones that close. You could have the same fabric or contrasting.
thanks JB i was laying in bed last night trying to work out a way to do double curtains. as i really like the look of floor length one. but dont want to lose the heat....
wonder if there is an OS solution... a way to make the effect of double with out spending out on a double pole...

Use ring top curtains for the floor length and ordinary ones on the wooden rings for the pole? you can put both these on one pole and not even have to buy extra wooden rings!0

Or hang the floor length curtains on the pole, then fit a plastic swish style track behind/beneath for the shorter curtains. The plastic tracks are quite cheap to buy I think. This way you would be able to pull the shorter curtains right back and hide them behind the longer curtains in the daytime, thus allowing maximum light into the room.
If money is tight you could fit the shorter curtains now and add the fancy full length curtains when you can afford them.0 -
I have long curtains in the lounge with tie backs, beautifully arranged, so I do not move them, I have open countryside behind ,so no privacy issues
Like the idea of another track with shorter curtains ,I will look into that.
In my bedroom I have shorter curtains ,still just 18" too long to tuck behind the radiator, and I have to fold the bottom when I close the curtains ,so I can tuck down.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
Curtains to the floor, wooden blinds for privacy, & TRVs on the rads so you can turn them off if you want to close the curtains.
I bought eyelet curtains from Terry's Fabrics, and double poles too, wooden venetians from hillarys DIY site ( their fitted prices are ) and TRVs fitted by the plumber.0
