1- Which D-Link Router did you buy, does it have a built-in "ADSL" modem or is it simply called "DSL" router?
2- Does your computer have an Ethernet network socket on the back?
3- Did you get any wireless adapters?0 -

Your D-Link router includes a modem, so you'll need to disconnect your existing USB Modem and replace it with the D-Link Router, and connect it to your computer by ethernet wire.
Then (from the setting up guide) You need to
Open Browser and Type: 192.168.1.1
a. Username: admin
b. Password: admin
Then follow the instructions on how to configure it, in most cases you'll at least have to enter your Tesco.net broadband username and password.
Once you have set it up and obtained access to the internet, you can proceed with setting up the wireless access adapter.
It is highly advisable to read the relevant sticky on wireless routers in this forum, specially relating to securing your wireless network. But do make sure your router works in wired mode first, then in wireless without encryption, and finally with WPA encryption. It is best to keep at least one PC connected by wire as this will not be prone to be affected by any possible failures on the wireless side of the network.0
