RBS credit card PPI claim declined

I have recently received the response from RBS for my ppi claim. I had the creditcards for over 12 years, i have probably paid late a couple of times and in my younger days would sometimes only make the minimum payment!!! I never claimed on the PPI, when completing the claim form it asked if i was to be unemployed/sick how would i pay my cc of which i answered that my partner would of helped me to do so (which when i was pregnant with my first child, he actually paid my balance of approx £1000 off for me). My claim has been declined based on : they did not sell the credit card as it was done so on an unadvised way?..they do not believe that my partner could of paid it for me!.....that i was provided with a ppi policy which fully outlined the policy and its benefits and it was upto me to decide if it was suitable to me (i have no such policy and never have) and the fact that i have had the ppi in place for the duration and i have failed to review its suitability and i have never cancelled it. Bizarely last week for the first time ever i received an annual review letter of the ppi and how i should check the suitability and my right to cancel (which i have now cancelled). I plan to appeal the decision but need some advice on how to go forward with it, can anyone help please???
