Apologies, I understand this difficulty a bit more now. At present, my electricity usage averages amidst 4700kWh - 4900kWh per year. My Gas usage averages 3800kWh - 4000kWh per year. The totals together per year are approximately 1440 pounds, ...

    Are you sure?

The electric usage is over 50% more than average, and the gas usage extremely low.

Even if correct, you should not be paying more than £1000 p.a. tops (£750 electric & £250 gas) for that consumption.

I'm serious. Who/what energy provider/plan are you under?

Where are you getting the kWh from?
AS gas is cheaper per kWh than electricity, can you shift some of the ele kWh to gas? (I'm thinking of heating.)

There is no cost for meter readings (unless they get to warrant, and that is v v rare), so don't worry about that.

Your meters will take the standing charge each day (You can see how much this is on screen 17 on gas & screen F on electricity).

There is no charge for using emergency credit with any supplier but when you use it the meter makes the credit last as long as possible by not taking the standing charge (or equivelant) - but it does remember it. This is then recovered when you next top up which makes people think there is a charge.

The other thing you could look at is insulation, but you gas (heating?) is already v low so not sure how much more could be done.

You mention you found a tariff that was £70 cheaper - any reason you haven't moved?
