Creation credit card problems! Help!

I completed a balance transfer of around £2500 a while ago and was happily paying of min payments for some time.

In aug, I got a letter stating I had not paid (which I had) and they added £160.69 to my account. Called them up, they could not explain why, promised to return call within 3 days. No call.

Rang again, same response. Rang again. Still no joy.

I decided to take all my money out, minus the 160.69 so completed balance transfer to my Barclays card.

They then started chasing me for missed payments etc. I tried to explain to endless people the problem, still no one could explain why this gphad happened. I wrote a letter detailing issues.

Three weeks later the reply I got was less than satisfactory. They stated that I had requested the money to be returned to my bank. ( nonsense) And that I had not paid since jan 2011. (more nonsense) if that was the case, why didnt they inform me nearly a year ago that my payments were not being made? I'm sure they wold not have left it nearly an entire year! They claim the £160.69 is all of those missed payments. My balance now stands at around £250, made ip of late psyment charges and interest, which I could quite easily pay off in a jiffy. However I don't feel like I should, given that I have paid my account every month and they don't seem to know what they are talking about!

I need help to know how to move forward from here and clear it up. They have now served me with a default notice despite the payments being in dispute.

Any help greatly recieved,

You need to raise it as a formal complaint, they then have eight weeks to respond when you can got to the regulator/ ombudsman.

Think about what you want from them, presumably sums written off, correction to credit file and seem compensation for time and effort, this will then allow you to view their response objectively.

Check your bank statements (to which the payments were allegedly returned). If they have not been returned to your bank then they are clearly mistaken. If the payments were actually returned to your bank then they might argue that you should have noticed.
