hi im new to the forum, so not sure if this is in the right place, i had a letter from newham council earlier this year stating i had driven through a road i shouldnt have which had a picture showing it as proof, (hidden camera in boot of a car) thing is i live in ipswich so i rang them up saying i didnt see any signs stating no entry for cars/bikes and also not being from london doesnt help me with knowing where to not go, so up until now i have ignored it and stood my ground when i got this letter through the door from whyte & co stating the fine had been passed to them and i needed to pay more than double what the orignal letter stated, also now my vehicle details have been passed to "baliffs" for removal which includes them clamping it until it is removed for auction and this would incur an extra £300 in charges, where do i stand?
also i was going to be selling the car today but recieving this i pulled out as wouldnt want the new buyer having the car removed from them and having to pay out more money back to them too

letter i recieved

Bloody hell you don't ignore council tickets, you have got to go through their hoops and appeal it properly, I would advise posting this on on https://www.pepipoo.com as quickly as possible, and hide your car away from your house, maybe in a locked garage.

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Your next stop is bailiffadviceonline. They will charge you £10 for the service but they are the best resource for help in these cases. Your big mistake was ignoring a council ticket and now it will take a lot longer to sort out.

I would suggest you register on pepipoo for advice, the bods on there are far more well versed in bailiff action, they'll tell you how to get it passed back to non bailiff action and how you can appeal it properly, most council tickets can successfully be appealed.

You will be ok to sell your car yes, the new buyer might get hassled if they catch up with them.

Its something they wouldnt be able to seize anyhow as it would no longer be yours, but if you get it passed back to the council for appeal then theres no worry.

  • I didn't realise people from Ipswich were exempt form obeying traffic signs when driving in London.
