What can I grow in my flat?

Ok, total novice here. I have no outside space, but it would be nice to try and grow a little something indoors? Any suggestions? (and instructions!).

Tomatoes are quite easy to grow, my friend gave me 2 tiny sproutlings and they're going well. Stick 'em on a sunny windowsill and don't over water.

I grow rocket (type of lettuce) on my kitchen windowsill.

Dirt, seeds, little bit more dirt over the top, water, and sun.

People in the office are well impressed :rotfl: Can't bring myself to tell them how easy it is.

You could try some herbs on your windowsill.

Inside I am growing: - chilli plants, rocket, tomatoes, spring onions, lots of different herbs, cress, and can't remember what else!! But I have started growing it all from seed and it seems to be doing well inside!

You can grow LOADS indoors! Im currently growing a heck of a lot indoors, most will be transplanted to a garden at some point in the future, however, depending on how many containers you want to have, how much light you can get to them, and how much floor space you have will determine exactly how much could be grown.

Loads of herbs can be grown, tomatoes, spring onions, lettuce leaves, garlic, spinach and even certain types of fruit and veg can be done too. Ive seen 'parmex' carrots (ball shaped so shallow rooting for containers), radish 'rougette' (quick and small growing in window boxes) turnip 'primera' (ping pong sized balls), beetroot 'pablo' (the leaves can also be used as an alternative to spinach) recommended in my seed catalogue for small space growing.

Gardeners world also suggested courgette 'one ball' (tennis ball sized), Sweetcorn 'minipop' (if you are feeling adventurous!), runner bean 'flamenco', pak choi, and chilli's. There are also dwarf fruit tree's but im not sure how well they do indoors, but strawberries etc are growing well in tubs on my windowsill.

UKTV gardens website also has advice on the grow your own section if you want more ideas, and BBC gardening has a free gardening resource with a test site so you can get a free RHS certificate too.

    Good luck!

    Beansprouts are Quick and easy.
put some Beansprouts in a Jam jar ,cover with water,
put a piece of Muslin (or other loosely woven materiel) on top secured with a rubber band.
Keep away from sun.the water needs changing twice a day.
Turn the Jar upside down to drain water through Muslin.
They should be ready in a few days.
    Good Luck
