Hi all,

Have a Skoda Octavia which I bought a month ago, which has hideous afrermarket alloys on it. Anyway, tyres are quite worn so will need replacing soon so I figured I'd get some steel wheels and new rubber all round. It's that or get some Skoda alloys and rubber from a breaker's yard or somebody who's breaking an Octavia.

From what I've seen online, even steel wheels and tyres from a car being broken are about £250, yet if I look online, I see websites which do offers that state they're for wheels and tyres, but the prices only seem to be for tyres?

Winter tyres would be better too. Anybody know of any place that's known for having good deals etc?

So to summerise, I need four, fully fitted and balanced wheels and tyres. Thanks all!

Your local boy racer emporium for wheel/tyre deals but the tyres are usually cheap budget ones. Chinese linglongs etc. Goto a decent brand and the price jumps up.
So £300 with crap tyres or for an extra £100 you can have decent branded tyres, Or an extra £200 + for a premium tyre.

£250 for steel wheels and tyres?

What size and tyre brands? When i traded my car in i didnt want the space saver in the new car, And didnt want them to have my brand new spare.
So i went to the breakers and some of them wanted £30 - £40 for a wheel and tyre. Shopped around and found a small breakers £12 or £15?

Bridgestone tyre with almost as new tread.

    keep looking.

And you should be able to eBay the crappy alloys to some boy racer afterwards, mitigating the cost of the new set.

Get along to your local scrappy and get a set of Octavia alloys for >£100 (At the moment round here they're only paying out £7 per alloy in scrap) and fit the best winter tyres you can. Save your bling ones for summer/sale time

Thanks all. Have looked at Ebay and found most either too pricy or too far away with no postage options. Will check breakers, as a mate just told me of one who'd be willing to take the old wheels/tyres as a PX of sorts!

Yes, continental Europe tyre prices are much more competitive, even including shipping.

mytyres.co.uk is a German company, and the other cheap online tyre shop oponeo.co.uk is Polish (BTW, they also sell steel wheels). They just take a few extra days to deliver.

    Thanks!

That's even cheaper....£57 a corner for winter tyres? Bargain...Doesn't work out as cheap as the other site if you get wheels too, as I can't see wheel/tyre combinations?

I've ordered from MyTyres several times without any real problems.

I did have one case where a set I ordered took about 3 weeks to arrive which was a problem as I was stuck on a space saver, so had to come up with an excuse to work from home, but since you're ordering winter tyres this won't be an issue for you.
