O/S Daily Thread Saturday 24 November 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 24 November 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Now light, frosty underfoot but misty here this morning. DH and DS1 up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. I got up with them to make sure they had some brekkie etc, as it's going to be a long busy day for them both.

Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk, I had jacket potato with tuna mayo and salad. Tonight's dinner needs organising, so will do that later. Was reasonably productive yesterday, managed to get most of the jobs done I wanted, got some of the laundry done, still some more this morning though so will get that going in the WM shortly, got everything ironed that was dry and put away. Made 2 doz cupcakes and a tray of chocolate brownie, will ice the cupcakes later.

Had a surprise cheque from the inheritance - it's a lot of money so went up and got it put in the bank, more for my peace of mind that it wasn't laying around at home over the weekend. Will be sorting what we're going to do with it and where it will get best interest etc over the coming days.

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Morning nmlc and all who follow,

Hester very belated birthday wishes, sorry I missed the day.

Molly, Hilstep, LW and Beemuzed Hugs for you.

What a week! I have been rushed off my feet all day and any spare time seems to have been taken up with marking or transporting children. DD2 had a clarinet exam yesterday and I couldn't get time off work to take her so her friend's mum had to take her instead.

Today is DD2's birthday party (she will be 13 on monday) so I will be shopping and cooking for that this morning.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning All

Not raining here at the moment, hopefully we will have another dryish day. It didn't rain here until later in the afternoon yesterday and it was bliss!
Washing is on the airers, will check later if it can go out for a blow.

Had a burst of energy yesterday when I got home from work and cleaned 2 bathrooms and gutted my bedroom which didn't look too bad but was quite dusty! Also dusted and hoovered the big lounge and planning to do the rest of the house today. DD WILL do her room today or I will be putting her out!

Off to visit friends this afternoon but must remember I have work at 5! Have a good weekend, hugs to all. Take care. XX

    Morning all,

Up early to phone mum and dad who are eight hours in front. They have just been swimming in my db pool, can't wait:T
Need to have a clean through this morning, then will pop to the local charity shops as I have the car.
I want to do a run this afternoon and then will be getting ready to meet dd and her bf in town so need to decide what to wear. Something nice but practical as we are walking from the pub to the restaurant
DS is not best pleased as he wanted to go and see a friends band in the local town, not the nicest of placest particularly on a Saturday night and at 16 I think he is far too young, so I have put my foot down, one stroppy sulking teenager, oh well he will get over it.
Frosty but dry here, much better than the rain and wind, let's hope it stays like this.
Hope you are all ok, and that the various doggies are well this morning, have a good day J x

  • Morning all

Not sure what the weather is doing right now but it's meant to rain all day.

I have no plans for the day itself today but my friends are coming over tonight to watch Strictly :D it's the first Saturday night we have all been free to meet up. I think we will either get a takeaway or something from the takeaway counter at Asda as I CBA'd to faff and cook, not very OS I know!

I do want to pop to Lidl to try get one of the 5kg onion sacks for 99p. I have literally just finished the last 5kg sack that I got in the summer. Good value. Need some other bits too.

OS wise - laundry mountain to be put away, quick tidy, hoover, dishes to wash, food shop.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all,

Drizzly rain here, and me with 3 loads of washing to do, it will have to go on the airer and radiators.

Dropping dd at work this morning, then home to have a quick shower and tidy through.

Dinner tonight will be the burgers wedges etc from last night, dd went out for a meal with her dad and step brothers etc, so OH and I had an Indian, very nice it was too.

Might pop and see my dad later on, or might go tomrorrow, will go one day over the weekend.

There is a massive new asda opened up a few miles away, we have never had an asda before, might go and have a look, and try them for my home delivery.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx
  • Good morning everyone :)

Have been up since 7, which is a sleep in for me, and have started to blitz one of the spare bedrooms. Two bags of rubbish, one Oxfam bag and two items for ebay. Going to have some brekkie then get my faithful Henry up here. I spotted a cobweb on the landing so he can attack that too!

Cold and grey here with torrential rain forecast for late afternnon/evening. Will be going shopping later then picking up DD and GDD and dropping them off at a friends on my way home.

Some batch cooking planned for later but nothing firm decided yet, I need to see which joints of meat are the best deal. Beef for fajitas for dinner marinaded over night and due to go into slow oven soon. Will have that with corn tortillas which were a bargain buy in B&M last night and some home made salsa and yoghurt.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them.

    Have a super day :)

Grey and Wet here today :( Thankfully I caught up with the washing over the last couple of days. Housework is all done apart from hoovering the stairs and that is DH's job, so he will do that in a little while.
DH and DD are going to do the face painting at the school Christmas fete at 1pm, I think that DS is going to his friend's house, so I have another afternoon on my own :j
So I will put an old black and white film on and sit there with my knitting and maybe a box of toffifee......... bliss:D
Nice easy dinner of egg, bacon, beans and mushrooms tonight.

Hope all the poorlies (human and animal) are a bit better today (((((Hugs)))))
