Which camera for gigs? Advice please.

I want a small compact camera that does hd video that can cope with
a) the sound levels

and

b) The lighting

at concert (namely Muse ) as my iP5 was abysmal at the LG arena.
Any suggestions? Preferably below the £200 mark please.

You'll be very lucky to find one. A cheap SLR is really what you need, at the least, unless you are willing to put up with pretty mediocre results.

I've seen YouTube footage from the gig both from the standing area and various points across the arena who had reasonable quality footage and sound. My iPhone couldn't even focus.

Is the budget of £200 as high as you can go? There are compact cameras out there that will do what you want, but for decent low light performance you are looking at £300 as a starting point. Something like this might be suitable http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Panasonic_Lumix_DMC_LX7/
It has a fast lens (low F number) which is good for low light performance but it costs £350
