Hi
I just bought my first car from Arnold Clark and they serviced it just this week before I picked it up. When I test drove it the emissions control system light was on which was before the service was carried out. The guy said this would be fixed. So when I picked the car up today the light is still on!
Is this covered by the 60 day Arnold Clark warranty ?
Also I have found out as soon as I picked up the car that the front left speaker is not working is this also included in the warranty?
Need some help as I dont have any experience of this
Thanks

it was on when you test drove car, and they said they would fix it so they should.
Tell them about the speaker too.
You're not in your warranty period per se - you have yet to accept the car (of which legally you have about 4 weeks) so they really need to be sorting these out as they were faults at the time of purchase.0 -
Doubt if the speaker is covered, but get the car back now and in your most courteous fashion, demand the car is put right. AC are selectively deaf and you have to be a polite nuisance to get things done, otherwise, like many, you'll just get fed up and pay a real mechanic to fix it.0

ok im calling up on Monday to explain.
Any reason why i couldn't get the speakers on warranty, i asked specifically if there were any other issues and the salesman said no.

Also what's the cost of speakers worst case scenario if i take to garage or try and fix myself? Maybe a how longs a piece of string question....0

Dealer will be costly.
best option if you have to fix it is a scrap yard.
What car?0 -
Why did you accept the car with the warning light still on?
You should have pointed this out on the day.
Have you checked the radio settings to see if the speakers are set up correctly?0 -
I pointed it out on day and salesman said it can be booked into garage and ac will cover costs. Its booked in for 13th December which is ages away ::-(
But at least the garage will fix and ac will cover cost in practice. Is there anything i should do to ensure this happens and not the garage coming after me instead. I've told them ac are.covering cost which they seem fine with and ac gave me the contact details of garage to go to.0 -
Yes to radio settings. Speakers not working.0

Warranty is irrelevant as it is only an extension of your statutory rights under the SOGA. Speaker should work, emissions control system light should not be on it's as simple as that.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

I reckon it'd be worth taking it to an independent garage for a MOCK MOT too, see what else is wrong with it. Car dealers (main dealerships or otherwise) tend to buy cars "blind", give em a wash, fill up the service log book with stamps and sell them at top price.
The fact there's a warning light on, would suggest they've done little more than wash it and sell it.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
