Hi folks , hopefully someone can advise me on a little dilema .
Yesterday i did a factory reset on my laptop (Sony Vaio ) after getting fed up with it running so slowly . Now i cant get hooked up to my wireless modem again , keeps saying aquiring address which i presume is the IP address but does not hook up .
Other laptops in the household can still get access to the modem so i know there isnt a problem with the modem and i have entered the correct network key .
Any help would be much appreciated

This might sound stupid but try restarting your wireless router anyway.
I have this problem from time to time with my wireless router when I introduce a new device to my house. The wireless works fine, but the router fails to hand out IP addresses. This isn't an issue for the devices already on the network as they have already been given an IP address, but the new device will not have an address yet.
For the purposes of this post, a factory reset laptop counts as a new device.0 -
What flavour of Windows is the laptop running?
Which security mode is set on the modem/router (WEP/WPA etc)?
Are you entering upper and lower case letters correctly for the network key?How do I add a signature?0
