Help please? Haven't paid but item shipped.

Hi, just a quick one please is anyone can help.

I won a book on ebay auction this morning totalling £10 including P&P, I didn't pay straight away as I was busy on the school run. At about 12pm my iPhone alerted me to the fact the seller had shipped the item, odd I thought considering I hadn't paid, but I have known some sellers to do this in the past. Anyway, I went to pay and there is no option, just track package or leave feedback. I emailed seller via ebay and asked what's happened and told them I'm having problems paying, they apologised and said it was because they are using a blackberry and would send an invoice when they were home. 2 minutes later they sent another mail to ask for my email address to send a paypal invoice.

If I pay like this, via a paypal invoice sent in this way can I still claim through ebay/paypal if item doesn't arrive or a problem arises, am I covered the same way? I seem to think I'm not, but I'm not sure. Can anyone advise. I've never had this happen in my many years on ebay...

They should send an invoice for an eBay item or goods. Check they haven't sent it as gift or something else. If it doesn't say it's for goods then get them to ammend the invoice And to send it as an invoice for an eBay item with the ebay number. It can be done.
If you haven't paid i would have thought you still could even if item has been dispatched.
Personaly if the invoice looks as though it's not for goods brought I wouldnt pay. Seller will do the right thing if he wants paying.
Also there is a chance the item may not have been dispatched yet

The best thing to do is maybe wait for it to be delivered then pay. That way you know it's in your hands safely, it should be here by Monday/Tuesday.

It's quite possible they haven't dispatched though.

If you're paying through Paypal you can input the Ebay item number if you send it yourself or check that it is on the invoice the seller sends you, then it is linked.

Using Selling Manager, I have accidentally marked a couple of items as sent when they were awaiting payment, I still never sent them until they were.

So I'll just send the person my email address and see what the invoice looks like. If the ebay item number is all in order etc then proceed with the payment? If it says nothing about an ebay item then ask seller to amend invoice.. Sorry never had this problem before, a bit confusing. So simple to just click and pay through paypal straight from the listing.

Sorted now, seller unmarked that I had paid. So I have now been able to pay as usual from the listing. Easy as pie. Just as it should be :-)
