CP Plus Charge Notice HELP!

I got captured on camera entering and leaving the services at Tamworth - over 2 hours. I foolishly tried to pay the £50 charge but for some reason the payment system didnt process so I got the next letter for £90 - I have emailed them to say that I tried to pay but it rejected can they check, also said that I was the driver!
Where do I stand now? Should I ignore or will they take a different tact now that they know I was the driver? I have not had a response to the email as yet.
Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks for the response, even although I have said I was the driver and did attempt to pay they have no additional hold over me? Thanks0

None at all.
1. If they don't own the land, and odds on they don't, then they do not have the necessary authority to offer a contract with a driver for parking anyway and
2. The amount they are after does not represent in any way shape or form the amount the landowner has lost as a result of the parking incident.
Any court claim would be laughed out of court.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
CP Plus are a well known bunch that haunt motorway services in particular. Easy to ignore0

Just Google them and the word scam and you'll find lots of info. Read some threads on this forum for goodness sake, every single thread on this forum is about why you can ignore fake PCNs and how it doesn't matter if you've 'appealed'.
Or if this was after 1st October you could try the 'appeal then POPLA further appeal' option but only if you understand that it's all a scam and you must still ignore it afterwards. You'd only use POPLA if you want to cost the PPC money and have a laugh. If you are not confident then don't just ignore them.
Please don't ask what POPLA is...search and ye shall find...:)
There's also a thread showing all the letters to expect. 5th from top of the parking forum.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I've just noticed an item on BBC news about several emergency and rescue vehicles massing on a motorway service area ready to respond to any more flooding problems . I wonder if any of those will get tickets if the wait more than two hours? What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

danijami,
I have ignored CP Plus many many many times. Count yourself lucky that you found this forum before they got their sticky fingers on your money.
Ignore them from now on. They are nothing more than a bunch of crooks pretending to have the authority to fine you. They have no authority at all.0 -
The whole private parking business relies on misrepresentation of authority. They are not the council, police or government, so they can't legally issue fines or penalties. All they have sent you is a civil invoice, which you have no legal obligation to pay or acknowledge.
Contacting them is generally a waste of time, their appeals process is worthless as it is not run by an impartial thirdparty but rather by themselves so it's obviously within their interests to reject it.
Over 99.9% of the time they will not take you to court, because the more times they take people to court, and lose, the more chance that other members of the public get to hear that the invoices can be ignored. This would then lead to parking companies having no income because there would be no more gullible people left!
Taking people to court actually hurts their business ... Which is why they hardly ever try it.
Out of the 1.8 million private parking invoices issuedlast year only 49 were heard before a court and the parking companies lost halfof those. The word "gullible" isn't in the dictionaryTickets: 19 [cancelled: 18, paid: 0, pending: 1]
PPC Appeals: 8 [accepted: 2, rejected: 5, pending: 1]
POPLA: 4 [accepted: 4, rejected: 0, pending: 0]0 -
Three begging letters off cp plus then three begging letters off Debt recovery plus, then they give up and go away, there paper fodda can come in handy to shred for a pet hampster also the nice sharp corners on the begging letters are well good for picking stuck meat out of ones teeth. :money:PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue. :eek:0
