I have had about 6 emails that have gone straight into my junk mail folder but they are all from my own email address.
I have no idea what it is.

The most likely explanation is that your email address has been harvested by spammers, and these emails are spam. How do I add a signature?0

Thanks. Can I just change my password or do I have to delete my email account? Something which I don't want to do as I've had it since about 1997.0

Changing your password is a wise precaution, although I doubt anyone has actually accessed your email account. They have merely found your email address somewhere online and set it as the 'from' address when sending out spam. You'll probably also get 'bounced' (return to sender) emails, where the addresses the spam was sent to doesn't exist or rejected the spam. How do I add a signature?0 -
The email protocols we still use were invented years ago before there were any spammers. There is no authentication in the system. Anyone with access to a mail server can send out emails under other peoples' names. It's just as if I posted a letter, but putting your name and address as the sender on the back instead of mine.
There's nothing you can do to stop it happening, and it doesn't mean your account has been compromised. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
As long as the messages are not in your sent box you are OK. Just a random spam.
They sometimes put your email address as the sender also.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
