Debenhams order online

Hi guys, not sure where else in the forum to put this, so I'll try here...

I bought an item from Debenhams and paid by credit card on Sunday 18th of November. Then on the 20th November I had an email advising me the items has been despatched.

Unfortunately it still hasn't arrived, and I'm starting to wonder where its gone now. Do you think I should call them, or leave it a little longer?

Cheers!

    Hi there,

I had the same thing a week or so ago. Took absolutely ages to arrive (about 5 days from despatch notice), so don't worry. For me, I don't think they used a "standard" courier service so the woman just popped my stuff round to me on the Saturday. So I'd just sit tight this weekend and see if yours is the same.

It's almost like it's someone doing the rounds on a part time basis with her own van - maybe it is. But having it delivered on a Saturday afternoon when I was in to accept it (packaged up amazingly well) was worth the wait for me.

I hope that alleviates your worry.

Hi Muffintops, thanks for taking the time to let me know, I'll rest a bit easier now that I know thats the way it works!

If Debenhams had let me know that was the situation, then that would have been fine. Instead, they don't tell you, and make you wait and worry!

No, its just the one item in the order, luckily enough.

To be honest though, the whole thing has put me off Debenhams a bit.

I have to confess that if an order I'm expecting doesn't show up, the first people I contact are the ones that are supposed to send it to me, not MSE.

Hahahahaha I must admit, thats what I SHOULD do, as they are the ones who will *really* know, rather than a bunch of people on a forum who are merely speculating!

However, if the general concensus on here was that there is usually a wait, then I was happy to wait a few more days before phoning them :-)

But thanks, you made me laugh!!!!
  • Standard delivery for items is usually 5 working days, if after 5 working days you haven't received it them give them a call.

In Our house, we quite often get things from Debenhams, we also get bits and bobs from QVC.
I have no issue with someone delivering the parcel to me, who isn't in a white van or from citylink/DHL/Yodel etc.

Why should the company tell you how it is being delivered?

We are on first name terms with one driver, he is cute in a rugged sort of way and have often wondered if he would like to be invited in ! ( May do it for his Xmas box this year !).

I think it is great that companies are using independant couriers to deliver, at least it is giving them a job.

But perhaps someone coming to MSE first will find out the experience of others quickly (as has happened in this case), instead of having to phone, probably a premium rate phone line to be passed from pillar to post.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
