Got my first neg...unfair I think.

I logged onto to find my first neg! I sold an item for 100% to a charity and clearly stated that the pashmina had minor imperfections. So I am rather upset to see the neg and the comment " should have been binned" Buyer didnt contact me at all prior to leaving feedback. Rant over.

Dont take it too personally, you can't please people all of the time. I got a neutral yesterday that simply stated 'ok'. Weirdly they left 5 stars across the board.

Leave a factual, calm response such as 'No comms? Would have refunded if you had contacted me" and forget about it. It will drop down in a few weeks.

Make sure to block your bidder though!
  • There's not much you can do I'm afraid, except do as pulliptears suggests, then try to forget it. It's a problem you can get with clothes/accessories. I sold a pair of boys shoes and got a neg because they were "dirty". Flipping annoyed me because I distinctly remember cleaning and polishing them during Eastenders, they were definately not dirty.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:
  • I got my first negative feedback on Amazon today in three years. Item had not arrived. Shame customer didn't contact before leaving negative feedback

People that leave feedback complaining without contacting you before it annoy me, if I have anything to say I contact the seller so if the item don't arrive I contact them as I am kind because if they deal with it I leave them a positive feedback as it is not their fault if it gets lost I think I have left 1000 feedbacks and only left 3 which were not positive and I think only one is neg. You look at some people who have left 20 feedbacks and 10 are negative as they are just there to wind out.
  • Some customers seem to have unreasonable expectations of secondhand goods. The charity shop where I work got a neg from a customer who bought a bundle of costume jewellery, almost all of which looked like new, and then complained a bangle was rusty (not true), and that the whole lot was tarnished (not true) and smelled of cigarettes (maybe she thinks charity shops only accept donations from non-smokers). They returned the items and got a refund but still negged us.

This is a problem, especially for small sellers - run into a few of these feedback wreckers in quick succession and eBay may push a seller off eBay through no fault of their own.

I would like to think that eBay would take a very dim view of those who routinely leave negative feedback, in the same way that eBay takes a dim view of non-payers... though that is an optimistic thought!

No doubt there are people who have been given an unjustified 'neg' and lost confidence in selling (as well as buying) on eBay, which is a great shame - as well as a loss of income to eBay.

I suspect most of us using eBay for a while have received at least one unjustified negative... welcome to the club!;)

I feel your pain, sounds like a buyer I have just come across. Apparently my item was binned in disgust, as well.

You could maybe contact them to try resolve it and if it goes well request a feedback revision ?
