Purchased ebay item - told it sold

Hi
I purchased an ebay item on buy it now. I emailed asking if they wanted me to pay on collection or over paypal.

I got an email saying they have sold the item elsewhere. This is really annoying! They never stated that it was advertised elsewhere.

Anyways, I emailed asking to cancel the transaction.

They replied why? You haven't paid for it anyway.

Can I cancel it from my end? Because I don't want to have it on my account asking me to pay for it.

Or can I give her a link to cancel it at her end. I'm not sure if the person just doesn't know how to do it. I don't know how to do it either.

I wound't cancel it - let themget stung for fees & leave feedback accordingly. Plus you could report them to ebay it's you're feeling extra mean

If i didn't cancel it, could they not penalize me for not paying though?

All you have to do to avoid getting an npb is pay via paypal then when it does not arrive file an inr which will get you your money back.
Thing is whilst sellers seem to do this [a lot lately ] it is against ebays t&cs, once an item is sold the seller is supposed to complete the sale .Most probably the seller didnt get a high enough price for then to sell.

You will not be penalized unless they open an unpaid case.....and if they did you just pay and then you open a case when item doesn't arrive. You have nothing to worry about. Leave it and leave appropriate feedback.

I'd report them to eBay as a non-performing seller, or pay them then open an item not received/not as described case.

Oh, and if you're in a particularly bad mood, negative feedback with a lashing of 1*
