I would check your final bill BarRat...

I've now got a 'final bill' which shows an adjustment for the cancellation charge levied end Nov (not actually the same amount though!) but it also adds new cancellation charges and other adjustments.

    I'm not impressed.

Why do Scottish Power do this? Is it just incompetence or are you so desperate to avoid refunding account credits that you want to leave exiting customers with a bad taste. I may have considered coming back to Scottish Power one day and might even have talked positively of my experience with you but now I'm just going to tell everyone what a shambles Scottish Power are.

    Sort it out!

footnote: like bar rat SP tried to charge me a cancellation fee simply because the new provider informed them before me (I would argue that I did advise them and they just didn't record me doing so). SP's notice of a price increaase simply states that they must be advised before the contract expires for purposes of retaining the current tariff during the switch. When they levied their cancellation charge I still had almost a week left of my contract. Also SP don't actually state how they should be advised or by whom. If SP want to make it up as they go along then they can expect plenty of complaints.

  • I've got the same problem.

I have moved to a new supplier in the last day or two, but the guy that called me from retentions said I was being charged a cancellation fee of £50 as they had received the application from my new supplier before the 31st December. Even though I was still a customer and paying for my gas and electricity on the 7th January 2013.

I've sent an e-mailing asking for an explanation to the above e-mail address.

It's been 24 hours and no response to my e-mail. How long did it take to hear back for other people?

You should have had a computer generated acknowledgment staing they will respond within 72 hours.

In my experience, they respond inside their target.

    No computer generated reply...

    I'll try sending it again.

I've now had my final gas bill, no electricity bill yet, and they haven't added an exit fee but they have used the increased unit charges which they promised they wouldn't do.. sigh. Why can't any of them ever get anything right? It is so frustrating and tiring having to complain about everything and get it all sorted.
