EON ... decisions ... decisions ...
I have EON Dual Fuel Energy Online .... bill around £1860 a year (!?!) ..... my bet is that EON will announce their increases at the beginning of December to bring them in line with everyone else.
Choices are:
1. Switch
2. Stick with current EON tariff
3. Stick with EON at a fixed 1 year
4. Stick with EON at a fixed 2 year
The Fixed 1 and 2 years have standing charges (which my current tariff doesn't ) .... they are quoting me approx £2020 an £2050 a year if I switch to Fixed 1 Year or Fixed 2 Year.
Tempted by the EON Fixed 2 year, as I cannot see energy prices coming down in the foreseeable future ... and there's only a £10 charge if I wanted to leave early ....
Opinions?

Take the opportunity to compare the whole of market options

I wouldn't switch to another Eon tariff, because IMO as soon as they get the chance to join the club and up the prices they will, and they have got a years worth of catching up to do! so don't expect any rise *IF* it happens to be subtle.
Its a bit like insurance companies, offer you a great unbeatable deal for 12 months, then make up the difference come renewal timea nd hope you'll just accept it.
After all, common sense and basic marketing would suggest that if they were planning on freezing prices for a further period, they would be cashing in on the fact by advertising now, whilst the other companies were upping their prices and in doing so, would effectively be cornering the market.
Yet i've seen no such announcement - enough said.
In relation to fixed price tariffs, personally I wouldn't do that either. If we happen to have a mild winter or the Government do intervene or the Consumer does grow a pair and protests about the frequency of these increases, then prices will tumble, at least for those who didn't fix. It happened last January, and it could happen this year too."Dont expect anybody else to support you, maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse, but you never know when each one, might run out" - Mary Schmich0
