This is the first of The Times and Sunday Times competitions in the run up to Christmas - it seems there will be hourlys every weekend.

On Saturday 24 November from 9am to 9pm The Times will give away a £250 Amazon voucher every hour.

Comp opens at 9am on 24/11 - any entries made before then won't count.

You don't have to include your phone number to enter. The Times does make marketing calls following competitions so it's your choice on whether to include your number.

TERMS & CONDITIONS: The prize will be £250 in Amazon vouchers. You must be 18 years old or over. Winners will be selected at random from all entries received for each hour. If there are no entries in an hour, the winner will be selected from all entries received in the previous hour. There will be 1 winner per hour and 12 winners for the competition. The competition starts at 9am on November 24, 2012 and closes at 20.59 on November 24, 2012. Each hour will run from XX.00 to XX.59 (for instance, the fi rst hour is 9.00 to 9.59). Entry open to residents of UK only. Each winner will win £250 in Amazon vouchers. Draw will take place on Monday, November 26, 2012 and winners will be notified within seven days. Best endeavours will be made to deliver prizes before December 21, 2012, however this cannot be guaranteed. Promoter is Times Newspapers Limited. By entering, any subsequent prize winners agree to allow the free use of their names and county for publicity and news purposes during this and future promotions by TNL or any associated or subsidiary company of NI Group Limited.

Update at 7.15am on Saturday 24/11 - I have no idea what's going on here. Today's printed version of the paper says that the comp is for £200 John Lewis vouchers on the front page, and on page 75 it says the link to the comp is www.thetimes.co.uk/vouchers - the link works and that page says that the comp is today.

If, however, you go to The Times home page http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/ there's a box advertising the Amazon vouchers as the prize with this link https://www.offersinthetimes.com/amazon/ - and this is live too with today's date.

I have no idea if this means that there are meant to be two comps or if things have just gone badly wrong somewhere. Given that it's the weekend there probably won't be anyone around at The Times to look into this. If anyone uses Twitter (I don't) perhaps you could contact them @thetimes and see what they have to say.

Update at 4:15pm 24/11 - Many thanks to touch*my*food*feel*myfork at post#42 of this thread who has spotted a mention of the Amazon comp in the magazine that comes with The Times. This seems to me to confirm that both comps should be running today.

Many are boycotting Amazon at the moment due to their "tax avoidance" in the UK ... may be I'll have to waive my morals on this occasion
