Is this just to stall me?

Hi I've just started the process of reclaiming bank charges. So I've paid my £10 and am waiting for my statements to come through. The bank have written to me and acknowledged all this by saying that it will take about 12 weeks to recieve them. Which I did expect because they want to stall you as much as possible. But at the end of the letter they say that if they haven't heard anything in 8 weeks they will assume that I'm not going to persue this course of action and the case will be closed. has this happened to anyone else. Should I write to them again after 8 weeks to remind them if I havn't received the statements or just sit tight and proceed as instructed on the money saving website.
