I want a cheap 14" laptop and can't decide between the Lenova Ideapad S400 Intel Pentium dual core and the Asus X401A WX074V Pentium.

I will mostly be using Microsoft Office, email, excel etc and googling lots of thing and will have quite a few pages open at the same time. I won't be gaming or uploading photos but will use catch up services. I also download books from our public library.
Could someone please tell me which one would be faster. Also the Lenovo is Windows 8 and I am a bit worried that some downloads won't work.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I appreciate you want 'cheap', but a Pentium is a slow processor. It will do all the jobs you list (as will any modern laptop), but an i3 would do it much better.
Why would W8 stop downloads working? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Asus.
Lenovo price include £50 cash back. So you are paying £340 upfront.0 -
I have been using Asus components for years to build my own pc's never had any problems what so ever and would recommend the brand. Lenovo is Chinese, Asus Tiwanese both a form of China loosely speaking"Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0
