I have a kindle touch and im thinking of upgrading it.
If I delete everything on it to sell it on, will i still have all the books i have purchased in my amazon account?
Also if i do buy a new kindle will these just transfer over to it?

I think you can just deregister it from your account (be sure to do this as otherwise people could buy books using your account) under settings.
When you get a new kindle, if you register then your books will all be under archive and will load up when you select them.0 -
To be extra safe
Before you deregister make a back up of your Kindle documents folder. After purchasing just copy and paste it in the new Kindles document folder. It will save you downloading all again.0 -
You can reset your kindle to factory settings. This removes all your personal content and de-registers it from your account.
Your books remain in your amazon kindle library, and you can download them to your new kindle by going into the library, choosing the book you want, and clicking 'send to my kindle'
