Hiya, i purchased something earlier this evening on ebay, paid via paypal straight away. The seller has just left me feedback saying that i was quick to pay, and would i please leave them feedback.
Would you say their asking me for feedback to release the funds i have sent them (they have feedback of 1) or just asking for feedback to be given back to them when i receive the item?

I wouldn't worry either way. Leave feedback when you feel comfortable doing so- and obviously once goods are safely received and checked. If you wanted to drop a hint to the seller that this is not a good idea, how about an email along the lines 'hi, I will of course leave feedback once I have my item in good order and I don't believe any other seller has needed to remind me to do so'.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They mean when you get them - just trying to ensure you remember - as their funds will be on hold.0

Perhaps they are a bit keen.
I would not leave feedback until I had received the item and made sure it was OK. Perhaps you could reply back and tell them that feedback is only left once you have the item in your possession.
I have been selling for a few months now and not all buyers leave feedback and to be honest I dont chase them for feedback just in case it opens a can of worms. One lady asked me to post 1st class and send her a revised invoice I didnt spot the request before she paid but sent it 1st class at my expense - I didnt get feedback from her!0 -
Same here, No feedback until i had the item.
I have now stopped leaving feedback for those sellers that dont leave me feedback.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I had this happen with a new seller who wanted the feedback as paypal wouldn't release my funds to him until he got X amount of feedback OR after X amount of days. I felt like he was trying to solicit good feedback so I ignored it until I got the item.
Good job I did because within a day the item ("Apple" earphones) had broken, one side didn't work, then the other broke, all I'd been doing was sitting at my desk and they were clearly knock offs, not genuine. So i emailed him - no response, so then I left neg feedback (bearing in mind he'd already left me + in return for mine). I then made a Paypal claim to which he decided to send me abusive ebay messages calling me a ****ing c**t and a tighta**e for buying on ebay in the first place.
Eventually paypal gave me my money back as a goodwill gesture but I don't know if it came from his account or not, frustrating because on top of that, ebay totally ignored his messages to me even though obviously they could track them. Anyway, the lesson learned is, never leave feedback til you have the item and are sure it's what you want (also, obviously, if you do have a problem, try to work it out with the seller first).
ETA - he's still trading as well. what a joke!Saving for a return trip to America, 3 weeks on Route 66 for our honeymoon just wasn't long enough!0 -
I only leave feedback once I get the items, I usually leave all my feedbacks in one big chunk so I do feedbacks like once or twice a month.0
