Help/recommendations on a dual monitor setup

I currently have a normal/single screen set-up for my desktop PC. We've recently started using a dual screen set-up at work which is immensely useful in terms of not having to flick between screens etc,
I'm now going to be doing more work at home and want to replicate the twin screen set up. I've seen a cheapish monitor but so far, the stands seem to be in the region of £100 which is more than I wanted to spend just for that.
Does anyone have any pointers to this more cost effectively.

Can't you just use the stands that come with the monitors or do you really want to replicate a single pole twin arm for home as they aren't cheap, also can your graphics card handle two monitors?
If you think 2 screens are handy wait until you've used an 8 screen setup lol0 -

What size monitors are you gettings? Rather than getting two 19" monitors, say, would it be worth just getting one big 28" one...? Just a thought...0
