New esa50

I have been in the support group on ESA since last January. I recently recieved another ESA50 to fill in. I am going to see a MIND Advocate to help me fill it i.

Im just wondering if anyone knows roughly how long it may take them to get back to me after iv sent the form back? Also will I still get paid the same amount intill they may their minds up?

Thankyou for your replies

i was sent a new ESA50 in june.
i completed and returned it, then phoned a week later yo ask if they'd received ut.

i was told it was with a decion maker, which confused me no end, as decision makers work for the DWP and not ATOS.

about 2 weeks later i received a letter from DWP stating that due to a change in circumstances my ESA rate from April 2012 would be .....

by this time it was July, so I was ,ore confused tham ever.

i phoned DWP and was told that i wouldnt be needing a medical as they had made a decision based on the ESA50 and the previous medical.

the letter really didnt convey that informatiobn!

getting back to your question ...

to be honest, i really think it depends how busy they are.
i'd certainly recommend sending it back by recordrd delivery and phoning to make sure theyve received it

THank you for replying. I will deffinatly send it recorded and try get somone to ring for me. I hate talking on the phone.
I hope it does not take to long for them to decided. Christmas will be rubbish again
  • Hi

I am waiting to hear from them also i called them today and was told they had sent a letter to my gp and were awaiting the reply from that before i hear anything else.
So time scales can vary but i would not worry to much as you will continue to get your money as normal and if you were to have a medical you probably would not get a confirmation from dwp to if you are to remain on esa til after xmas as it normally takes them a while after getting the results from atos and what with the christmas holidays it will slow things up also

It took nearly 6 months for me to be given an F2F (face to face ) assessment, so I hope you are not holding your breath!

When I had a renewal ESA50 form sent to me, I filled it in ASAP and heard back about 5 weeks later, I didn't have to go for another medical.

I guess it depends how strong the evidence & how many points you got on the original ESA application, then if your ESA50 confirms all this and there's no reason why your condition will of changed, then they will use the evidence they have.

If its likely your condition could of changed (improved) or the ESA50 form has contradicting information, then a medical or extra information from your GP/Doctors maybe needed which could delay there decision.

So to answer your question, it can take up to 13 weeks again (or even longer depending on back logs), but your ESA should stay the same until a decision has been made.

But do chase up the ESA50 after a week or two to make sure its been received and is being actioned.
