New seller needing advice

I've been having a clearout and have a few items I'd like to sell on ebay. I've seen so much information its confusing so I just need something easy to understand.
I need to know about the listing fees. Is it just a one off fee for each item listed, or does it increase the longer the item is for sale? Is there another fee added when my item is sold? Who pays for the postage the buyer or the seller? What else do I need to know? Anything to watch out for?
Thanks

You might be better doing a few basic searches on eBay FAQs direct on eBay. There are listing fees, final value fees and also PayPal fees to be paid.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. best to read the info on ebay as soolin suggested but very quickly....
there are 2 types of listings, auction or buy it now...ebay charge you for listing both and if you do a listing with both you will be charged more.
that listing fee stays the same. if the item sells you will be charged a final value fee. paypal also charge you for the amount you are paid. if you list an item with free postage then you are paying .... if you want the buyer to pay you state how much you want them to pay....keep it close to what the amount will be otherwise you can be marked down in stars.
try to watch out for free listing weekends...usually once a fortnight on the weekend. Check T&C's.
I list mostly on free listing weekends. There are addition charges when listing eg, extra pics, subtitle etc. just before you complete a listing and click to complete check the amount of fees you are being charged at the bottom of the page...if you're not happy then go back and alter. once the listing is complete you can't change anything to reduce charges/fees.
there is a lot to think about and know and it gets easier as you list more and more0 -
And don't forget as a private seller you get 100 free insertion fees on auction listings of 99p or less every month.0

I've taken photos tonight of my products and uploaded them to Photobucket. I wrote out descriptions of the items too, just on a word doc, and researched prices.
Hopefully I'll get them listed tomorrow.0 -

Good luck. One last thing, Have a read of the sticky thread about postage. It's often the thing that causes problems for new sellers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Got my 10 items listed

I've since been looking through the house and found other things I can sell. Its great, I can't wait to get listing the other stuff.
Does ebay send me an email when someone bids for something I listed and what do I have to do then to accept it? Or does it run until the closing date of the auction?0 -
If they are on auctions then it runs until the end, you can check in 'myebay' how many bids you've got and answer any questions you may get.
Once the auction ends and your buyer pays get your items posted asap.0
