Has anybody ordered anything from Dabs recently. My son (25 years old) ordered an additional hard disk at the weekend. I check his e-mails while he is at work and was astonished to find that A&L had declined to accept his card for payment. In the evening he refilled in the form on the Dabs website which held his details and thought the problem was rectified because the security number was not inserted. He thought everything would then be fine.
Today I checked his e-mails and again the bank have refused his card. I contacted him at work and he went to A&L branch and found out that all banks have been told to do the same regarding Dabs. Does anybody know anything about all this please.

BT bought the company a year ago - according to THIS BBC report.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

i have orderd before from them with no probs, they were really gd to tell the truth

Sorry to be rude, but what really gets me, is why you are checking your sons emails, when hes 25?
I'm 19, have been using the internet for at least 7years, and always keep my passwords and users private, if i knew my parents were checking my emails, i would be very annoyed.0 -
I only check his e-mails because he asked me to because he does not have time and the interest to look through all the junk e-mails and anyway this is not relevant to what I posted. Stupid me for saying his age which was not at all relevant.
Still cannot get to the bottom of all this. A&L still refusing to pay. Thanks Heinz for mentioning that Dabs are part of BT which we already knew but which makes it all the more mysterious. Have had a "live chat" with Dabs and they said they have no issues with payments.0 -
I had the same issue with Dabs using an A&L credit card. Mine told me they thought it was fraud (?) and so refused the payment. I ended up having to use my debit card instead.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Thanks Unixgirluk. Strange, this was a debit card and we are thinking of trying again with my credit card. Will be discussing what to do later.0

My son used to use Dabs, but no longer now. He says, in his opinion, that they can be a nightmare to deal with and over priced too. Ask your son to have a look at https://www.scan.co.uk We actually live not far from both Dabs and Scan but would only buy from Scan as they are far cheaper much easier to deal with and very knowledgeable too.
As for other posters comment on here, i actually open my sons post for him if he asks me to do so, especially if he is out of this country, if i didn't his mobile and visa bills wouldn't be paid. He has also on the odd occasion asked me to pick up any important e mails he is waiting on and phoned him as soon as its come in. My son is 23.0 -
