Parking Ticket recieved today on screen

So I had a meeting today and over shot by 35 minutes, come back out to a parking ticket, noticed it was a private ticket from Britannia Parking.

Now I am not the registered keeper of the car, and I havent told the registered keeper that I got the ticket nor i was driving that car today does the keeper have to tell the parking company who was driving? I knew this wasnt the case but the POPLA says otherwise?

Is the registered keeper a lease compnay or a private individual?

if tis a private individual i would let them know, and educate them on the parking scam the more people that know about this the better.

if its a lease compnay/hire company check your agreements, they usualy state something about fines/penaltys, a ppc ticket is neither, it may be worth giving them a quick call to educate them, and if it only mentions fines and penaltys tell them that they must not pay under any circumstance, and you will not pay them for their mistakes.

No they don't. It's nothing to do with the parking company.

The keeper is usually, but not always, liable for the charge whoever was driving. This is known as keeper liability. The keeper is usually the person registered as the keeper at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).

Half way down, ok its not they say its not the case totally, just strongly suggests that the keeper is liable

They dont have to tell them anything, the difference is in how any threat letters may be dealt with.
hire/lease companys are well known to hand over the money without question, and levy an extra admin charge ( nice little eaerner for both them and the parking company)


Private individuals who dont know about the parking scam are also likely to hand over the money after first getting nervous, panicky, and so on, esxpecialy ionce the threats and harrasment start from the parking company and their associates, the person at the other end of the threats and harrasment may get lucky and discover places such as this and reaslise just what a private parking ticket is.

Nope. POPLA is an appeals process. It says nothing about who is liable. That is down to the Protection of Freedoms Act. The two things are quite separate (though enactment of PoFA was dependent on POPLA being set up).

Well, that's wrong, too. The driver is usually liable (for the unenforceable charge). Only in very particular and specific circumstances does the keeper become liable.

Just to say that I got a fake PCN from Britannia in June, for an alleged 'overstay' by my NORTY car - and was really looking forward to collecting a new set of threatograms...but I received NOTHING! Most disappointing!

But show the registered keeper the letter chain sticky thread 'PPC letter chains' 5th from top of the forum so he/she knows what to ignore if any letters do arrive. Or if they are a vulnerable or gullible person then I would wait for the first threatogram to arrive (if any) at your friend's address and then I would write and name myself as the driver to hook the rest of the letter chain in your direction. It's only junk mail so make your choice who receives & ignores it!
