Hi,
Ordered item BIN from USA on 6th Nov.
Got dispatch notice on 7th advising there may be delays due to hurricane Sandy.
Tried the tracking number, but it's not been updated, just showing package picked up on 7th.
How long should I give them before opening dispute?

TIA

I assume you actually mean ' how long shall I wait until I contact the seller and let them know item has not arrived?'

Personally I would let seller know after about 18 days or so, but would wait a month before even getting jumpy about a claim. 'Sandy' has caused a great deal of problems both to and from the US, and as buyers have 45 days in which to make any sort of claim I would certainly not be hasty here.

  • Thanks.
It's a buisness seller with good feedback so I'm not too concerned that it won't arrive, just not sure how long I should wait.
Sorry, poor wording on my part. I intend to contact them first rather then jumping straight to dispute esp. as I'm hoping to re-order with them if the part is suitable for my needs.

Is it proper tracking do you know or just a barcode on the customs label (in which case begins with LJ)?

I've found USPS staff very haphazard about how much they track things with the latter above. Some are tracked fully and others never get past "electronic shipping info received".

Also if there wasn't a hurricane I wouldn't yet even be looking for it. 3 weeks and i may start to think about it. Heck i've had letters take 3 weeks for no apparent reason lol.
