Would a two door american style fridge freezer use an awful lot of elect compared to a standard one? It's A rated.
'A rated' may mean vastly different things for different sorts of appliances.
An 'A rated' small under counter fridge/freezer to get that rating has to use lots less energy than a large fridge/freezer.

Just to give you an idea, we have a 17(ish) year old American two door fridge/freezer monster (which we love), purchased before ratings were given. Being American, energy efficiency wasn't really a serious concern, but it is rated at 350W with a 750W defrost heater. It uses about 2.6kWh per day, which works out at about the equivalent of 110W continuously. Definitely not A rated though!
This page might give you an idea what running costs to expect.
I would expect a modern one to be more efficient, but the bigger they are, the more they will cost to run. I don't see that replacing ours will save money in the long run, so we'll probably run it until it dies. Being a GE appliance from the 90's, it'll probably run forever!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
