Can anyone help me to send this parcel cheaply please?

Ive sold an item on Ebay offering free postage. Ive sold 2 before and usually use City Link £8ish pounds economy service. However this buyer according to the site is in the highlands ( PO postcode)and the price quoted has rocketed to around £18 I think it was. The parcel weighs 14 kg H=73 L= 73 W=25 cm. I dont need a next day service. Does anyone please know where I could get a cheaper courier for this parcel. Ive spend a good hour looking but a lot are even £50+ many thanks

Although not the information you really want, but for future reference always add something like ..

UK Mainland delivery as shown. For other locations, please ask for a delivery rate before making a bid.

Some couriers even class Northern Ireland as a separate destination, charging more than mainland UK. Royal Mail don't, they have the same rate.

If it's on Ebay, use Ebay post, you can get Parcelforce for £11.99 covering all the UK, Highlands and islands (not Channel Islands) included. It gets tracked through Paypal too.

Especially for Northern Ireland this is a pretty good rate that is difficult to beat on one off use.

A 'PO' postcode is probably Isle of Wight if it is showing as higher rate.
    .
  • Highlands? No PO is my postccode area *waves* lol
It's portsmouth and surrounding areas too so most likely case if your courier quote has gone up it's going to be the isle of wight.
Shouldn't be charging more though well royal mail don't as i thought it was still classed as mainland.
Have you tried myhermes? parcelmonkey? collect plus?

I checked Interparcel, my usual courier reseller, and it comes up with:

    Yodel 48 £15.99 + VAT

for UK Mainland to UK Highlands and Islands.

Curiously, UK Highlands and Islands to UK Mainland comes out as only £6.50 plus VAT.

I've just sent a similar parcel to the Highlands and found nothing better than about 18 Pounds +VAT. Most of my usual carriers were quoting 35-40 pounds +VAT. Did your quote include VAT?

I used Parcel2go using the AJG service.

As I've said Parcelforce 48 via Paypal covers all UK, up to 30kg, £50 insurance for £11.99. That includes VAT. You can arrange collection or drop off at a depot.

Parcelforce 24 has £100 cover and is a couple of pound more, I think.
