Best tablet for family use?

Hi all,
My daughter will be 6 shortly and is finding her innotab quite boring, in fact our 2 year old gets more use out of it. She is quite bright (obviously I am biased lol) and loves to use the apps on my HTC phone, she even plays solitaire on it.
We are looking into getting a tablet at Christmas for her use but also for us to browse the internet etc when she's not using it. We were fairly set on the Nabi 2 until my Hubby spotted the Kindle Fire.
The Nabi 2 seems ideal, she would be able to watch films, play games, have controlled use of the internet, take photos etc and is also quite sturdy. But would we be able to use it for more grown-up things well, like internet access for MSE and facebook etc? I really don't want to waste money on something we can't all use. But in the same breath I do want it to be suitable for my Daughter to use and the Kindle Fire might be too grown up.
Oh heck how do people decide on this sort of thing?! I made the wrong choice with the Innotab and don't really want to do that again.
I might also point out that our children spend a lot of time out in muddy puddles, feeding the ducks, playing games and doing jigsaws at home so she won't be glued to the tablet, just incase I get shot down in flames for her being too young for one

Spec wise Nabi 2 is better than Kindle fire. If it is purely for kids, that would be a good buy.0

I agree give the Nexus a good luck if it is in budget."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
