Will I get maintenance loan?

I am contemplating returning to University to study Midwifery. This is something I had always intended on studying, but my ex was not happy with me doing shift work, so I took a different course and graduated in that first.
I did a two-year post A level course many years before I studied at University too. When I did my degree, I had to pay fees for the first two years, but did get a maintenance loan.
My understanding is that I will get fees paid by NHS, but I cannot find conclusive answer to whether I will be able to get living allowance paid while I study. Will I be able to claim for a further maintenance loan if I have had three years already?
Thanks.

You will get your fees paid yes, you will also get a income assessed nhs bursary (though I would advise having a little put aside as we are sept 2012 intake and some people are not getting their bursary til jan 2013). You will get a reduced rate maintenance loan from student finance, even if you have have had one previously at around £2200. You do not mention if you have children if so there is more help. You can also apply to your university for the access to learning fund they give extra support to nurses, as long as your income is below £42,000. Hope this helps.0

I've just finished a degree in midwifery (my 2nd degree also) and can confirm the above is correct - you get fees paid, an income assessed nhs bursary, and half the usual maintenance loan at around £2200. My bursary barely covered my rent, so be prepared to have to do some paid work on top. Good luck!0
