carrots now 2" tall

Hi,

Got some free carrot seeds from Birdseye. Which I have planted and now have lots of 2" tall shoots. So what now????

Should I pinch the tops off to stop them growing too long and lanky?

How tall should I let them grow before I put a hay mulch round them?

Will they need to be covered?

Any other tips would be most welcome

Leave the tops on as they generate the plant's growing energy.

Did the packet say they could be planted this late in the season? You may find that they don't grow very big because not much grows at this time of year.

The instructions say 'sow your seeds between November and June for best results' 12-13 weeks grow time.

I have planted them in individual pellets - at the moment in the house, but was going to move into conservatory to get them used to the colder temp and then plant them in a wicker veg bed with some straw to protect them.

This is a first for me so will just have to see how it goes:)
