Decorating the Nursery: Inspiration Needed!

Hi All,
I hope this is the right place to post this, we have moved into our first house recently and due to the fact i am 21 weeks pregnant we have purchased a house decorated to our tastes so most of the hard work can be left till the sleepless nights are over!
However we did want to put our own small stamp on the place so we have decided to decorate both the bedrooms and i am looking for inspiration for the smaller second bedroom that will be our nursery.
We have been told it is likely we are having a girl but don't want to make the room too girly just in case they have got it wrong!
So i am wondering if anyone out there has any pictures or can describe their childrens nurserys to point us in the right direction. At the moment we are conisdering painting a mural on one of the walls but have no idea what theme to go with so all ideas will be gratefully received.

Hiya
We recently bought our first house, but unfortunately for us we have lots of work to do, and not much motivation unfortunately. (There is another benefit of renting - you don't have to decorate).
Last month, I discovered I was pg with no. three, and there will be a 6 year gap, so it feels like we are starting from scratch.
Anyone, one friend of mine, years ago decorated her children's bedroom with bee's. They were girls, but the walls were painted yellow, with black and white bees (white bees, with black lines), and I have always been taken with it.
So was really basic, and I am sure that with my limited art skills, even I could do this.0 -
Or was it white walls, with yellow and black bees.
I don't know, porridge brain.0 -
With our first (and no idea if it was a boy or girl) we just painted walls a buttery, warm yellow and put up an alphabet frieze. We used yellow, pale green and white bedding and accessories. We repeated the colour scheme in our next house as we had boy/girl twins. We even painted the ceiling the same colour and it always felt the room was full of sunshine!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

for our youngest we had a Jungle theme

warm yellow walls, beech furniture & flooring
then the jungle range from tesco ,wasnt too bright or wishy washy pastels either lol
would have been suitable for either sex
I love gingham though and if ever we had another baby, i would do a pink / white or blue / white gingham theme with white walls ,wooden furniture & floors etc
think it looks really fresh and classic

Busy decorating a nursery here!
We're painting the walls sunshine yellow, and we've got Peter Rabbit stickarounds to stick on the walls. I've already got Peter Rabbit curtains, lamp shade and bedding left from when my boys were babies. Then when baby gets too old for Peter Rabbit, it's easy to peel off the stickers and replace them and the accessories with whatever (s)he is into then. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Not exactly moneysaving, but I have my eye on some gorgeous Cath Kidston wallpaper. It has little circus animals and big tops and things all over it! They also have a lovely cowboy one if you know you're having a boy. Rather pricey, but maybe you could just do a feature wall? Have a look on the website it's really good!0

thanks for all your ideas and comments.
We already have laminate floor down and have bought a natural beech cot, i am considering painting 3 walls a neutral colour and then having one wall painted like a park with grass and trees and a duck pond, probably way too much work but my partner is quite arty and i'm sure he can be persuaded into drawing the outlines if i help him by painting it in. I never knew decided how to decorate a room could be so challenging, i don;t even know why i am so concerned about it its not like the baby will know what is on the walls!
Any more ideas keep em coming, they are much appreciated!0 -
When I was pregnant I was convinced (even before the scan) I was having a girl so we decorated as such. Her bedroom has got 2 opposite white walls and 2 bubble gum pink walls. I then bought THESE Giant room stickers in the Funky Flower Range ( They do do other ranges) and made a lovely flower girl themed room. There are enough stickers to adequately fill a 12 by 8 ft room. (They are also removable so you can position them or even change them when you get bored) All her accessories are in lilac and pinks-shes now 2 and they still look great :j"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye."...Miss piggy0
