Applied for cards

Well I have just spent the last few days making 3 applications on my credit account. The last time I used searches on there was for my current credit card that is due to run out in jan.

I have applied for and been accepted for the M&S card. I have had the forms sent out to me today, so i signed them and spent them back. I am still waiting to find out what the limit ive been given is on that card, it is 15 months at 0% but how much limit it has would be nice to know.

I then decided to apply for the Tesco card as it told you the limit etc straight away and so I thought it would be helpful to know..... I got the 0% deal but what I see as a low limit at a mere £1000 unless I have read this wrong?..?...?i guess I will find out when It turns up.

I finally did a soft search on the Nationwide and came out with a £3200 limit approved so I went through with it and am waiting that card.

Now am I crazy for getting all 3? I possibly find that despite being accepted by all, any one of them may turn round and say Noto me even after acceptance.

The only reason I applied for more is because I'm coming off a £5850 0% deal with my own bank Halifax. It will be paid off in full, a month before required. I will then close the card down. I would like to use one card to make purchases ensuring that I do get the halifax fully clear putting all spare cash that way, I'm on average paying £500 a week off that card.

Will wait and see what the M&S limit is, hoping it will help pay our summer road trip in the USA but just wish I knew the limit :(

Is it possible that any of these cards will be rejected even after being accepted?
I'm not going to be stupid with these cards, I have a place for each and I can pay off easily so not too concerned. I guess I'm thinking seriously I just got accepted on 3 cards! Is that normal?

Edit to say obviously won't be talking any more out. Will use these for time required before closing down and then going with Halifax again at some point in the future.

Hi, I think that once they approve you they can't then go back on that.

Don't apply for any more, It will the go against you as having too much credit (yes too much).

Use them wisely. (somehow think you will anyway). 4321smokey

Final checks can easily cause refusal.
  • That's what I was thinking. Don't need any, so will wait and see.

I do earn 38k take home and only card is credit card with £5850 with own bank. Owe £2500 on it but clearing currently at £500 a week.
Live with partner who owns own home, pays bills etc. I'm on electoral role, lived at address 6 years current job 3+, mobile phone and next account all running perfect. Overdraft and credit card via bank I'm with. We shall see what he next few weeks brings....
No matter how much it does not matter it's still interesting to see what they say!

They can - there are a lot of threads on here regarding this. The CC provider is free to withdraw the credit facility at any time, even before they have sent it to you.
  • So are you saying you expect them all to be rejected?:0

You have done the right thing for maintaining your debt at 0%.

As long as all three cards have balance transfer at 0%, you distribute the £5850 Halifax debt accross those cards. You needed three cards to carry the £5850 total balance - Don't apply for any further cards for a while.

You can then use the Halifax card for your £500 regular monthy spending. Make sure you reduce the limit of that card to around £500 and pay it off in full each month. If you rerun up a debt on the Halifax card you will obviously be back at the begining.
  • The £5850 will be clear before the protional period of 0% finishes on that card. I will then cut that card up and close account.

All of the other three cards can be rejected if I don't want them when they turn up right? I can cancel the one with lowest balance offer, or would I be silly to cancel them now.

Think I panic applied looking to get the right one. Now if only M&S had told me my limit, I would not have needed to look elsewhere. The time it takes for them to turn around the process at M&S as i read on this forum made me think maybe I needed a quicker turn around.

I guess it's a wait and see now, just hope that I hear sooner rather than later.

Did you get an email from M&S telling you that you had been accepted?

If so, could you confirm that the email came from HSBC call centre / data centre in India?
  • Hi yes the email did come from hsbc.co.in

I had the forms sent out very quickly, I was expecting it to take ages after reading previous threads on it.
