clicking noise around meter/clock

Hello! guys and girls,
This evening I noticed a clicking noise coming from the electric meter or the clock next to it, not sure. Its one click about every 2-3 second, not very loud but able to hear it when standing in the hallway (meter and clock in cupboard in hallway). The time on the clock is wrong and has been for approximately over 2 years but since I'm not on economy 7 I didn't call my provider. Do I call the electricity provider to come and check or do I have to find my own electrical engineer. Please advise as I am very worried ! Thank You.
