central heating timer

hi guys... my central heating timer is useless ( Horstmann Coronet 425 ) i want to replace it with a digital one.. can i just purchase any digital timer to replace it. ive seen some on ebay that work the hot water and heating on seperate switches , will these work or do i need a heating only timer

It would help if you said what sort of boiler you have-combi or conventional?
With a combi you need a heat only programmer.No free lunch, and no free laptop
