Tablets!! No idea are they suitable for school work????

I can get a case & keyboard for a Nexus7 for about £30 on Amazon.

Google Docs does a decent job of managing files from Word, Excel, and Powerpoint and is certainly up to dealing with homework assignments.
Add in internet access, and that covers most activities.
If you do go the netbook/tablet hybrid route, remember that using Google Docs will keep all your data in the Google cloud, so you can jump to any available PC or laptop later.
I've only just downloaded LibreOffice (successor to Open Office) myself so have yet to test that theory!0 -

Laptops are for school work so typing etc
Tablets are for reading, playing games in your free time.0 -
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your responses. After much thought I have decided to go for the Galaxy Note tablet.It is what she really wanted. Our intention is to upgrade our current computer so that she can use it for tasks that she may not be able to do on the galaxy.
I have seen that it is possible to purchase a keyboard to accompany the tablet so this may help.
