Free Mobile Sim cards - Where can I donate?

Hi,

I had been requesting for free sims from various UK mobile operators and assuming that they would come handy some time in future..

I have never registered myself with any of the operators even if I used few of those SIMs..

I had a look at my SIM store and it has got loads of them..I am planning to donate them in bulk to a charity...

I have got many charity shops in my city

Oxfam
British Red Cross
Cancer Research
PDSA etc....

Firstly, I would like to know whether its fine to donate sims to charity or is it safer (and better) to destroy them...

And, which charity shop would accept Sim cards?? anybody has done this in past ??

  • Not a bad idea.

    How many have you got?

Why dont you walk house to house and see if anyone wants them for free? However shake a charity box infront of them. At least you'll get a pound a Sim for charity.

Then give the money to charity!

You'll get healthy in the process....but dont do it too often otherwise you'll need new shoes. However you could buy the shoes from the charity shop

The charity shops i manage wouldn't sell them.
The only way to find out is toask them really.

  • Hi there

I work for a charity that might be able to use the sim cards if you still have them?

Have they been used before or are they still brand new?

I work for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity (Reg No 299679). We support those affected by the death of a baby before, during or soon after birth. We have 90 odd support groups/branches across the UK most of whom offer local telephone support and various other support services. Some still haven't been in a position to facilitate a mobile telephone yet, so obviously these sim cards would be of use.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know in case you are still looking for somewhere for them to go.

If you want to contact me direct feel free.

    Kind regards,
    Carolyn
