Potential Business Idea - Auto Stop Taps

Hi,
Im qualified as a plumber but dont work full time plumbing and have been thinking of supplying and fitting aut stop taps as a sideline. Basically the units are connected to the copper pipe and allow users to switch off the supply very quickly and easily at the press of a button just like a light switch. This clearly makes quickly preventing a flooded house much easier and could be especially useful for the elderley who may sturggle to get to their stop tap as these switches can be positioned upto 8 metres away.
I would only be looking to do this locally in West Yorkshire and having looked there doesnt appear to be lots of competition. My questions I guess are whether people could see there being a demand for this and also how should i go about getting started advertising etc??
Thanks

Cheapest way would be to print up a load of A5 leaflets, target certain areas (you have already said elderly, are there any estates round your way predominently elderly people), and post them through the doors.
Then, fairly cheap, postcard adverts in local shops, newsagents etc.
Then next step up is local magazines, small ads are usually quite cheap and not wanting to generalise but the elderly are usually the ones who have the time to read the freebie local magazines.
Local newspaper
Then Yellow pages etc. By the time you get to this stage you should have started to get a feel for how much demand there is.0 -
Why not contact a local care and repair organisation for advice? These organisations offer free or vastly reduced home maintenance and craftsmen services to the elderly and vulnerable people- whilst I know it may not be the ideal way, they may be able to recommend you to their clients.

Are these electrically operated - if so, do you need the newish leccie certification?
Obviously sales will be influenced by cost - anyone any views on whether to include a likely price on any leaflets? Only ask as I tend to bin any un-priced leaflets (and not respond to the over-priced ones).0 -
hi jon are you going to use the surestop system just interested to know0
